Battle of Genres – DJ Matthias

I will be doing a 6 week long “Battle of Genres” starting January 25th and ending March 1st, just in time to be close to NCAA March Madness, but early enough not to have to compete with it.

The first week I’ll have 32 genres with one song from each genre. Each genre will be compete against another genre and the winning genre will go onto the next round as illustrated in this handy bracket:

You might be asking yourself “How does each genre get to the next stage?” Well, you get to decide. That’s right. You get to vote and decide.

To vote you can go to the facebook group associated with my show and comment there, or on my wall or message me. You can also try leaving a comment here, but I’m not sure how quickly comments get approved and what all happens with those. And, if you have another way of contacting me, that’s a fine and/or dandy way in which to get your vote to me.

Here come the voting restrictions. You can vote once per pairing, but for all of the pairings. Which means, you can’t vote for both genres in a pairing and you can only vote for a genre once per round.

In the event that a pairing receives no votes or the votes result in a tie, I’ll simply flip a coin to see which genre wins.

Each week the winning genres will face new opponents as well as double the songs played for the genre. Week 1 there are 32 genres. Week 2 – 16 genres. Week 3 – 8 genres. Week 4 – 4 genres. Week 5 – 2 genres. Week 6 – The Winner and an entire show devoted to the one genre.
