Hello record lovers! After a few weeks off, it was back to the turntables for an all vinyl House of Wax. There were one or two new records making their debut on the show, my favorite of which had to be the Trade Winds’ “New York’s A Lonely Town”. Much like the story in the song describes, their sound is a west coast meets east coast blend; Beach Boys meets The Four Seasons. I dug it out of a box at Fantasyland records and took a chance on it because it was on the Red Bird label. Happy to have it part of the repertoire now. Keep listening to upcoming show for the B-side. In other record news, the 8th annual Record Store Day was held this past Saturday. It was the first one in a few years where I got out early to be part of the crowd. I went to Sweet Melissa Records in Marietta because they opened earliest, but I stayed for the free coffee and cupcakes. Ended up with a nice mix of used and new releases and certainly a few that will get played on this show. I’ suppose I can talk more about them when it’s their turn to get played.
