Hello record lovers. House of Wax was sans records this week so I decided to play a sort of wish list of vinyl I’m currently on the hunt for. The album pictured above, “Livin’ Love” by forgotten 1960s all-female rock band The Feminine Complex would be a nice find indeed. I first heard this album when I was working in a used record store back home. Rich, my other co-worker, always had a fantastic selection of CDs he would rotate in the store’s stereo system. And one day he pulled out this gem. As soon as it stopped playing I asked to make a copy of it. I remember discussing that the group had reminded me of a fictional band called The Carrie Nations from the 1970 Russ Meyer film “Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls”; a movie I recall watching late at night on TCM notable for being written by film critic Roger Ebert, featuring the psychedelic rock band Strawberry Alarm Clock, and just being an absolutely absurd and trippy film that I would struggle to explain the plot to the next day to my high school friends. But they were not The Carrie Nations in disguise as I had thought, The Feminine Complex were the real deal. Keep your eyes peeled for this one my crate digging friends. And now to the music:
