January Recap

As January comes to a close and we get a taste of what 2025 will bring I wanted to pull some music that captures life lately. This month has been frantic and busy as we get back into the grind after a nice holiday break. Reuniting with school friends and being back on campus has some nostalgia to it, along with the stress about the school year. The weather has been cold and crisp, with two surprise snowy moments. Altogether this month has been a mix of cozy and frantic, so let’s get into some music that sounds like this month has felt.

January Playlist:

  • “Everywhere Everything” by Noah Kahan
  • “Messy” by Lola Young
  • “Karma Police” by Radiohead
  • “Sweater Weather” by
  • “Drops of Jupiter” by Train
  • “That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams
  • “Oh Caroline” by The 1975
  • “The Reaper” by Blue Öyster Cult

I pulled these songs from a few of my staple playlists as well as getting some recommendations for others. It feels like every couple of days this month have been a slightly different vibe. Some days I need chill music to just be in the background of my day, and others I need upbeat music that will pull me through the days that feel extra long.

This lineup has a mix of mellow songs as well as more upbeat ones. They all echo that crisp wintery feeling that has been lingering around this month. This blend of older music alongside newer music echoes the January feeling of looking back on last year while looking forward to the new year.
