School is out for summer! Yes it is. Nothing more to say than that. Last Thursday, just after the final class of the school year, the Fuzz Factory had it’s final show of the school year. No summer break here. I will be teaching part-time this summer, so the Fuzz Factory will be around almost every Thursday at it’s usual time, 8 PM (EST). We will have frequent extended play nights as well. We’ll have plenty of cool special features this summer, including an all-instrumental show and the latest all-cover song show.
This week the special feature was Faith No More. Faith No More was an experimentalfunkmetalalternativerock band based in San Francisco, CA. They are credited with inventing alternative metal and subsequently rap metal and nu metal. I have strong feelings about alternative metal, mostly positive. I have strong feelings about nu metal as well. Almost entirely negative. Therefore, I have always said that Faith No More were the great band that launched a thousand crappy bands. That being said, we need to honor the ones that started it all.
I also played a song tonight that was 16 years in the making. Urge Overkill released a new disc earlier this month. Their first disc since 1995. Glad to finally have them back. Look for more from that disc and other new releases coming at you on future shows.
There will be no show this Thursday. Looks like I’ll be attending my 20 year college reunion after all. A partial report coming in a few weeks. Here is your Fuzz Factory playlist.
