I have been in my art studio a lot lately. Amazing as it is, I’ve actually been finishing some new paintings. Normally, I am listening to music when working on art. Recently, however, I’ve been listening to (and watching) documentaries about rock bands and musicians. I really enjoy learning the ins and outs of their careers. Not just typical “behind the music” stuff, but also the actual production and engineering of the music itself. Among the many documentaries I saw were ones about Deep Purple and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. That’s all I needed to provide the idea for the feature of the week: Deep Purple and Rainbow. Ritchie Blackmore is a legendary guitar player and also a bit of an enigma. He has a long strange history of being difficult to work with and very often had strained relationships with his other band members. The music he made with Deep Purple provided the bridge from psychedelic rock to heavy metal. As usual, most of what I played were deep cuts you would not hear on classic rock radio.
THIS WEEK, make sure to tune into the Fuzz Factory Psychedelic Rock Trip. For the entire show, we’ll trip along through everything from psychedelic pop to contemporary neo-psychedelic rock. You won’t want to miss this ride.
Here is the playlist from last week. Make sure to be there this week!
