Hey listeners. During the short Winter break I figured I’d try and pull a little focus on my show formatting resulting in last week’s debut of the show “Son Of House Of Wax”. This show is a variation of the original “House of Wax” program. It’s a lot less of the pop and vocal groups of the 50s and early rock and roll scene and a lot more of the garage, blues, psych, fuzz and freak folk sound of the late 1960s. Here’s the music that was played on the last show to give an example:
The 13th Floor Elevators – “Reverberation”
The Moody Blues – “Go Now”
The Remains – “Once Before”
The Blues Magoos – “Gotta Get Away”
Vanilla Fudge – “Illusions Of My Childhood: Part One / You Keep Me Hanging On”
Jimi Hendrix – “If 6 Was 9”
The Rolling Stones – “Citadel”
The Beach Boys – “Wild Honey”
Iron Butterfly – “Stamped Ideas”
Creedence Clearwater Revival – “Born On The Bayou”
Small Faces – “Afterglow Of Your Love”
Cream – “Spoonful”
Jefferson Airplane – “Mexico”
The Electric Prunes – “Bangles”
The Grass Roots – “Let’s Live For Today”
Donovan – “Wear Your Love Like Heaven”
Pink Floyd – “The Gnome”
The Pretty Things – “Balloon Burning”
Love – “My Flash On You”
Strawberry Alarm Clock – “Incense And Peppermints”
The Doors – “Five To One”
The Who – “So Sad About Us”
The Mojo Men – “She’s My Baby”
Jeff Beck – “Beck’s Bolero”
The Velvet Underground – “Pale Blue Eyes”
The Shangri-Las – “Past, Present & Future”
The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band – “In The Country”
Neil Young & Crazy Horse – “Down By The River”
That’s the idea. Catch “Son Of House Of Wax” Monday nights from 6-8pm only on SCAD Atlanta Radio. It’s a limited number of shows so tune in while you can!
