This past week on Straight Thru The Night: we did mention this was the second to last episode (possibly forever), right? Most of the chatter was about our “Retch-Ro Cinema” pick, The Wraith. It was one of the better films (maybe the best) we’ve covered so far and their was A LOT to unpack with it. We also talked a bit about the celestial phenomenon that was on everyone’s mind that day – the solar eclipse. Both Travers and Matt managed to preserve their eyesight by not staring directly into the sun so we want to take time to thank all the media outlets for helping us to understand that that would have been a huge health risk. Otherwise we’d have to be rockin’ the Don Johnson sunglasses look day AND night, 24/7. The eclipse was a solid success but we couldn’t help but wonder why there was no supernatural / occult events that played out during it like television and film has promised us. No space plants appearing from thin air, no vampires taking advantage of the blocked sunlight to attack in mass, and we certainly didn’t use it in an attempt to escape execution by letting on that we possessed magical abilities. Oh well – there’s always 2019 (Yeah, these thing’s are a dime a dozen. Turn’s out that darn moon is gettin’ in front of the sun all the time. Science!). Eclipses aside, we had a nice playlist to get us through the show and want to show it off, so take a look below to check it out and don’t forget to tune in next week for the FINAL episode of Straight Thru The Night for summer 2017 (and yes, possibly forever).

Retch-Ro Cinema – Week 9

The Wraith was maybe our favorite films to cover so far. We talked a great deal about who Charlie Sheen actually was in the movie, Clint Howard’s hair, Billy’s work ethic at the burger joint, over t-the-top explosions, the lack of any parents, and much more. Both DJs recommend this film and agree that it’s not even that terrible a film but a victim of certain writing choices and decisions that left us scratching our heads. Why were the metal braces disappearing? Why did the victims have their eyes burnt out? Who carved that tombstone for Packard? Will Skank and Gutterboy be reunited in heaven? The questions linger. It’ll be a little hard to surpass, but we think the pick for our final “Retch-Ro Cinema” segment will stand up to the challenge. Take a look at the trailer below to reveal our last movie for review this summer:

Motorcycle ridin’, cocaine smugglin’ ninja forces vs. a culturally diverse circle of friends who train in the martial arts by day and bring down the house with their rock at night? Trust us. This is one “Retch-Ro Cinema” pick that you shouldn’t pass up. It’s such a great “so bad, it’s good” movie that we chose it despite the both of us having seen it previously. It’s time to refresh our memories however and would love for you to join in. Watch this film and then hear us talk about it on the very LAST episode of Straight Thru The Night – this upcoming Monday night from 8-10 p.m. EST only on SCAD Atlanta Radio.
