Hello friends! Once again the boys of summer took to the internet airwaves this week with a mix of synthwave, outrun, electro pop and more on a brand new episode of Straight Thru The Night. Travers and Matt had a lot to comment on with the many retro reveals made during the San Diego Comic-Con including the near perfect trailer for Stranger Things 2, the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, and Steven Spielberg’s return to action sci-fi with the 80s pop culture filled teaser for Ready Player One. Of course we got in our weekly “Retch-Ro Cinema” segment by discussing Robot Jox (see below for the next film pick). Here’s the music you might have missed:

Retch-Ro Cinema – Week 6

Last week’s “Retch-Ro Cinema” pick, Robot Jox, was… alright. I mean, it’s a great premise and any movie that features giant fighting robots will always hold a special place in our hearts. It felt just a little out of place though – it either came out too late for the more intense craziness of the mid ’80s or too early for the right special effects that would have put it over the top (see Pacific Rim). Maybe it just wasn’t bad enough for our tastes but it did have its moments – specifically the acting of Tex and Alexander. Anyway, this week’s pick seems to be a real treat and one that neither Travers or Matt knows about at all. It’s called R.O.T.O.R. and it’s… well, take a look:

Oh yeah. Terminator and RoboCop got nuthin’ on R.O.T.O.R. I think we’re going to have fun on this one. Be sure to tune in to Monday night’s show on SCAD Atlanta Radio from 8-10 p.m. EST for a new “Retch-Ro Cinema” segment during which we’ll tear this movie a new one. You yourself can watch the whole darn thing here.
