Hello listeners and thanks again for checking out another episode’s worth of synthwave, outrun, and electro pop from this past week’s Straight Thru The Night. Honestly, I don’t think we had much to chat about this episode (besides seemingly being preoccupied with playing retro inspired games on our phones during the breaks) and left most of our conversation to get a better understanding of our “Retch-Ro Cinema” pick for the week: R.O.T.O.R. If you missed the episode, just know that this film comes HIGHLY recommended by both Travers and Matt as they could not get enough of neurotic robots, an unstoppable middle-aged suburban dad disguised as a cyborg, and just… really just insane dialogue. Offered some of the best quotes from a film we’ve watched so far. The rest of the episode was just a friendly reminder that this show WILL be coming to an official end in just a few weeks (last episode is planned for August 28). We’ve been thinking of ways to make the show live on without having to rely on the broadcast aspect, but we shall see. Retch-Ro Cinema – Week 7
Have you ever thought to yourself – you know what would have made RoboCop an even better movie? Drug peddling vampires from China. – Well, I’m happy to say that your wishes have been granted in the form of our next “Retch-Ro Cinema” pick, Robo Vampire. This 1988 film was directed by Godfrey Ho, a man infamous for hundreds of Z-grade ninja films. We couldn’t even find a proper trailer for this film but we hope the clip below highlights the sort of action you can expect:
