David Bowie retires his Ziggy Stardust persona at the end of his British tour. Tragedy strikes when Jim Croce and five other passengers die in a plane crash. In music broadcasting news, the television program The Midnight Special debuted on NBC while The King Biscuit Flower Hour was syndicated on radio stations across the country. Artists releasing their debut albums in 1973 include Aerosmith, Queen, the New York Dolls and Bruce Springsteen (and Tom Waits too for all you people thinking I forgot to mention him during the show).
