SITS_1973

The year was 1973. Here’s what was happening in music. The CBGB music club opens in Manhattan. The Who’s Keith Moon passes out on stage and a 19-year old fan lives out his biggest dream as he is picked from the crowd to fill in on drums. David Bowie retires his Ziggy Stardust persona at the end of his British tour. Tragedy strikes when Jim Croce and five other passengers die in a plane crash. In music broadcasting news, the television program The Midnight Special debuted on NBC while The King Biscuit Flower Hour was syndicated on radio stations across the country. Artists releasing their debut albums in 1973 include Aerosmith, Queen, the New York Dolls and Bruce Springsteen (and Tom Waits too for all you people thinking I forgot to mention him during the show). Oh, and also, someone bit Lou Reed on his butt. Check out the playlist for some other musical highlights from the year 1973:
