So, this week, I played bands who’ve recorded/released on Sub Pop, the famous independent record label from Seattle. Trivia: Sub Pop has two platinum albums (Nirvana’s “Bleach” and “I Told You I Was Freaky” by Flight of the Conchords) and two gold records (“Give Up” by The Postal Service and “Wincing the Night Away” by The Shins). (That Shins record is also the only Sub Pop record to chart in the top 10, ever.) Anyway, I played some stuff, including an 11-minute Mogwai song, because this is college radio and it’s the only acceptable place on Earth to do that.
