Goooooooooooooood morniiiiiiiiiiiiiiing listeneeeers! DJ ‘Froyuken here to bring you the playlist for tonight’s show as promised during last week’s episode, since I missed out on making a playlist for the two prior shows (still apologize for that). BEMANI month is continuing with episode three tonight containing songs from Konami’s 2nd BEMANI game, which debuted with its first release in September 29th, 1998, Pop’n Music. Initially meant for younger audiences than the beatmania crowd thanks to the aesthetics of the arcade cabinet, once its songs reached the higher difficulty levels the older audiences from other BEMANI games began to flock to the series; myself included. The series, unlike the hip-hop focused beatmania before it, contains songs spanning many genres such as J-Pop, anime, disco, Eurobeat, and much much more. Its gameplay isn’t all that unfamiliar from beatmania’s but has an additional 4 keys, 9 total all in the shape of round candy-colored palm-sized buttons, that had to be hit in correspondence with the on-screen cues. As of current, the series is at its 21st mainline release, Pop’n Music: Sunny Park, which released last December. Tonight’s songs below will come from the first 10 games in the series with six songs to represent each one.
