.WaveLength – Week 6

Welcome to the weekly roundup of the top electronic songs. Most of the tracks featured here were released the previous week, so if a song or album drops on a Friday, it will likely appear on this list the following Friday. The selections are presented in no particular order and showcase a wide range of styles within electronic music. Even if electronic music isn’t something you usually listen to, I recommend giving the first 30 seconds of each song a try. You might be surprised to discover something you really enjoy.

Disclaimer: The songs picked are not necessarily the ONLY songs released in the last week, but are an editor’s choice.

Dancefloor” – Teddy Killerz (Drum and Bass)

Teddy Killerz, while not the newest artists to the Drum and Bass subset, they are definitely one of the most unique. The Russian-Ukrainian trio has been releasing music nearly every other week, which leads me to believe an album is likely in the works.  “Dancefloor” is a banger that never slows down and keeps you hooked.

wakeup(crazy)” – Juelz x Angst (Trap)

Vancouver producer Juelz is constantly refining a sound between hard hitting bass music, emotional anthems and hip hop. Known for contrasting drive sections with moody breakdowns, Juelz has proven to be a master at crafting sonic soundscapes in the world of electronic dance music.

Run The Track” Flowidus (Drum and Bass)

Producers Raphael and Garo form Flowidus. Born just before the early 90s drum and bass boom, their sound is rooted in the form, and they have spent years cementing themselves around the globe as household names. After an incredible 2023, they’ve been slowly refining and making anthems. “Run The Track” is their newest song. I suggest you give it a listen.

Afterglow” – Fabian Mazur x Snavs x HEIGHTS (Trap)

Fabian Mazur is an artist from Copenhagen who has released dozens of sample packs and taught a Spotify Masterclass. He is a consistent figure in the industry and has earned multiple awards for his work. Snavs is another decorated artist who has toured around the globe at prestigious festivals such as EDC, Tomorrowland, Coachella, and Eurosonic. Together, they have released an EP combining their two styles. Give “Afterglow” a listen if you like dark and hard-hitting bass music.

Unconditional” – MPH (UK Garage)

MPH is easily the pioneer of the new UK Garage genre, rapidly becoming the most exciting artist to release new music. His versatility in making a style of music sound unique every single time is truly impressive. “Raw” is his most popular track in the genre. Go give it a listen. He’s been backed by big names such as Fred again.., Sammy Virji, Disclosure, and Chris Lake, with no signs of slowing his increasing fanbase. It’s hard not to call MPH the torchbearer. “Unconditional” rounds out his soundscape very nicely with a drive section featured.

car crash” – jigitz x Charlotte Plank (Dance)

Jigitz is an avid American UKG producer based in Brooklyn, NYC. He’s become known for his chaotic live sets, which made a viral hit “tell you straight”, with the song spending multiple weeks on the Billboard Dance Chart. He’s been cosigned by Louis The Child and BUNT. Charlotte Plank is a 23 year old vocalist who’s appeared on multiple tracks in the electronic scene. “car crash” is quickly shaping up to become a smash hit, having gained almost a million streams in less than a week. Give it a listen.

Can’t Wait No More”- Devault (Bass House)

Devault, a.k.a Sage DeVault, pushes boundaries in the electronic scene. Infusing raw emotion and darker energy into his production and live sets. He draws inspiration from Depeche Mode and Daft Punk to fuse a different sound that feels cutting-edge. He has sold out shows in Los Angeles and New York as well as major headline festivals. “Can’t Wait No More” is my new favorite from him.

You Forget” – Wax Motif x Maeta (House)

Daniel Chien, known by his stage name Wax Motif, has been a key influence in the house scene in the United States. Hailing from Australia, the LA-based producer has sounds originating from R&B and disco. His music has been widely supported by a number of different names, including FISHER and Chris Lake. “You Forget” feels like the perfect song for a new setlist.

HOUDINI” – Deathpact (Hard Trap)

Deathpact enveloped the electronic bass music scene by storm. He has a heavier, darker sound that feels like the stereotypical sound most electronic music haters attribute to the genre. Yet his sound feels incredibly unique and refined. They have remained anonymous, but continue to collaborate with well-known artists such as Rezz, Zeds Dead, and 1788-L. “HOUDINI” hits harder than most of his discography.

Earthquake” – Viperactive x NGHTMRE (Trap)

The newest artist on this list, Viperactive, is a trap and bass producer from Los Angeles. He’s going to appear at major festivals. His modern take on the genre contained some of the most unique sound designs you can think of. He’s collaborated with major names like Fred again.., Marshmello, and this is another track with NGHTMRE. NGHTMRE or Tyler Marenyi owns his own label and the global dance music stage. Skrillex dropped one of his unreleased tracks during the Ultra Music Festival, and NGHTMRE instantly became a major name. He’s the champion of EDM and hip-hop. Collaborated with artists like SLANDER, Gunna, Tory Lanez, Dillon Francis, and others, he’s easily one of the most decorated. “Earthquake” is the perfect song to represent the genre in modern times.
